CutePDF – Add a PDF printer to any Windows application

By | July 17, 2011

CutePDF is a free software to create PDFs from any Windows application. It installs a printer driver and shows up as a virtual printer when you print from any application. While giving the Print command (Ctrl+P), select the “CreatePDF Writer” as printer and it will create a professional quality PDF. I have been using it for years and helps me a lot. It has endless possibilities. I downloaded a free invoice template from Microsoft Office Templates. I use it to prepare invoices entering all the details of customer, particulars, and bill amount and export it as PDF just clicking the “Print” button and selecting the “CutePDF Writer” as printer. I can export the Wikipedia pages from browser as PDF files for storing. I can print PDF from any application let it be Excel, Power Point, Firefox, medical dictionary, etc. etc. and it goes on.

CutePDF supports Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista/7 (x86/x64). It requires PS2PDF converter such as Ghostscript.

    Hi,
Using cutepdf, can I combine printed pages? For example, when I print certain ranges or sheets from an Excel file, I want them all in one single pdf. Right now, I am using pdf995 with the additional utility pdfedit995, both from pdf995.com.

For the record, I have printed a document of about 1800 pages into one pdf file (accounting ledger generated by tally software), and I basically have no problems at all using pdf995. It just reminds me each time that I am using ‘sponsored software’ and shows their product advt each time. Other than that, I have faced no problems at all. It is an excellent tool, especially with the combine pdf feature.

I just want the blogger to enlighten me if cutepdf (free version) has the feature of combining pdf files.

    Thanks for the great blog.

I used to use pdf995 long ago, but you know the drawback, it prints ad on every page and the file looks unprofessional. CutePDF does not print anything onto PDF pages.

It does not have the ability to merge files, but there is an open source freeware called, PDFsam to merge files. Get it here: http://www.pdfsam.org/?page_id=32
