paypalThis post is to answer all the blog comments asking how to withdraw money from PayPal to Indian banks.

PayPal allows you to withdraw money directly into your Indian bank account for free if you are withdrawing more than Rs.7,000. If it is less, it charges Rs. 50 as fee. This is the better way than requesting cheque because it takes few weeks to deliver, a month for realization, and more over PayPal charges $5 fee and your bank charges approximately Rs.150 to Rs. 250 for clearing international cheque.

Follow these steps to withdraw funds from PayPal to Indian banks:

Log into PayPal and click the link “Withdraw” Then, select the option “Withdraw funds to your bank account” and click “Add Bank Account” It will ask First name, Last name, Bank Name, IFSC code, and Account Number. The thing in question here is IFSC code.

IFSC is Indian Financial System Code assigned by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for every bank branch for easiness in transferring funds and communication. If you have an ICICI account, you can see the IFSC code printed on the cheque book itself. Get the list of participating banks and its branch codes in an xls sheet by clicking here. This is the link to the main listing page where you can find the updated list in case if it is updated by RBI and you are not able to get the XLS sheet. IFSC code is an 11-digit character and numeric code and looks like BKID0003322, which is an IFSC code for Bank of India, Gandhigram branch in Gujarat State. 3322 is the branch code and BKID is the bank code. Enter the appropriate IFSC code for your branch followed by your account number. You can also confirm it with your bank branch. After that you can select the amount to withdraw into your bank account, which readily converted into Indian rupees and showed to proceed with withdrawal.

Once you are done, you will get the money directly into your bank account in three to seven business days. I have tried to transfer the money to an ICICI account and it took only three days for getting the money. Still have questions? Post in comments.

i am doing a survey in awsurveys website.i want to know which paypal account is needed for redeeming money from awsurveys through paypal.means it should be d personal or any other

  2. 2. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

AW Surveys is a SCAM. Just google the words “AW Surveys+scam.” Stay away from that site. Personal account is enough to withdraw money from these type of sites.

I want to buy some products from USA through E-Bay. I have a PayPal Account BUT I have not link that with any of my DEBITCard ( because of some confusion in OPERATION of PayPal with INDIAN Bank DEBIT Card ). So, I want to ask you some question :
    1. I have a “ATM cum DEBIT” Card of ICICI Bank. Can I link that DEBIT
Card with my PayPal Account ?
    2. If I Link That DEBIT Card with my PayPal Account, Then in the time of
PAYMENT ( for some PRODUCT, bought through E-Bay), will the AMOUNT will be automatically duducted from my DEBIT Card OR, through all the reguler procedures same as e.g. BUYING RAILWAY TICKET BY USING DEBIT CARD ? ( i.e. all the process of LOGIN in my Bank Account and allowing my bank to pay through proper authentication procedures ?)
    3. How will I add the money in my PayPal account ? – ( when I have BANK ACCOUNT in ICICI BAnk ? )

  4. 4. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

I have tried with my debit card to verify my paypal account, but it did not work. Although, the site says that you can verify your account with debit card, it does not seem to work. What I did was, I opened an account with HDFC and opted for International Debit Card, which allows me to create virtual credit card. With that you can purchase products from international sites and also used to verify the PayPal account. Hope it helps.

First, THANK you for sharing your experience !

Now, I want to ask you another question about other option of Payment (through BANK ACCOUNT with INTERNET BANKING Facility).

I have ONE Doubt : “PROCESS OF PAYMENT THROUGH PayPal”

Suppose, I want to buy a product from E-Bay( cost of Rs. 1000) and want to pay through PayPal. For that payment (as far as I know) , – I have to have that amount(Rs.1000 + any other charge-if any) of money/balance in my PayPal Account. Right ? Now my question is – HOW CAN I ADD MONEY IN MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT ?

FOR THAT ABOVE PURPOSE, Suppose, I opened a SAVINGS ACCOUNT in ICICI Bank with INTERNET BANKING Facility ( through which , I can transfer money to other Bank Account)
Now, will I be able to transfer money to my PayPal Account from my ICICI Bank Account ?

I want to know about IFSC code of ICICI Bank. They have provided me the two codes one is NEFT IFSC code – ICIC0SF0002 and other is RTGS IFSC CODE – ICIC0000007

Which one i will use. ?

  8. 8. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

From FISC Code available on the net, it shows that the first code belongs to their head office in Bandra Kurla, Mumbai and the second one belongs to NEW DELHI – CONNAUGHT PLACE branch. If you have account in Connaught Place, then go for the second code and if you have account in Bandra Kurla branch, then go for the first.

Hi, naveen thanks for helping with a useful information. My question is simple:

I have a bank account in SBI With the name Yogesh Singh( please note Y and S are capital) and i have account in paypal with the name yogesh singh( Y and S are not capital) . i have about 200$ in it. Can i withdraw them into my bank, or will they reject this transaction because Y and S are capital.

  10. 10. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

That does not make any difference. You can proceed with fund transfer. Note that, while transferring the found if you have given account number or account name wrongly, the funds will be returned to your PayPal account, but they deduct Rs. 250 as charges for returning of funds.

  12. 12. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

No. You need a credit card of any bank.

naveen, i tried to withdraw money and paypal says transaction is completed but still i cannot see money in my bank account

  14. 14. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Have you entered the IFSC code correctly? Though you enter it wrongly, no need to worry about as the funds will be returned to your account. As we got Good Friday holiday and Sunday too, there will be delay in transfer. Wait for another two days and see.

  15. 15. yogeshNo Gravatar Says:

yes, i have entered the IFCS code correctly but i don’t know why it is taking time.
i make my bank account on thrusday and on same day i withdraw the funds and on saturday morning i came to know that the status is complete

but still bank is not showing any money.

Try to upgrade it with your friends credit card and see if it works. Otherwise get account at HDFC with International Debit Card. They have free virtual card creation facility. I think from that you can verify your account at Paypal. But this process takes time.

How to get out of this. Is there is any way to contact paypal.

  23. 23. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Ask the PayPal support directly. It is the better choice rather than doing all the stuff which can lead to permanent ban where you will lose all the money.

  29. 29. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

  30. 30. ShyamNo Gravatar Says:

You can withdraw funds from your Paypal account to almost any reputed International bank in India. but you cannot add their debit card to verify your account in Paypal I have tried with almost every debit card. you require a credit card to verify your paypal account.

Hello Naveen. Do I need to get my SBI account activated for netbanking before registering it on Pay Pal?

I have debit card of the federal bank, can i link it with paypal and then use paypal to shop online??Is it safe to do so? Plz give the details if its possible.

  34. 34. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Verifying with debit card is not working. You need to have credit card. They charge for depositing money from credit card into your paypal account. It is a bit high and it is better you purchase online products with Credit Card only at a well known online stores.

  35. 35. MayurNo Gravatar Says:

Plz tell can I withdraw money to my Bank of Baroda a/c even if Net banking is not activated on my account.
Also tell if i can withdraw money to my mother’s ICICI bank a/c which is of different name than PAYPAL.

  36. 36. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

There is no need to have Internet banking activated on your account. But, do not try to withdraw into account with different name. You may get ban on your account and your may lose the amount.

  37. 37. KrishnaNo Gravatar Says:

I come to know from your comments HDFC International Debit Card can be used to verify the PayPal account. What can I do to avail the same ? As I am working in abroad can I apply online for the same ? and pls.let me know whether it is safe to attach our debit card to paypal or not ?

  38. 38. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

When you apply for international debit card, you will be able to create a virtual credit card verified by VISA, which you can use for verifying the Paypal. You can get further details from HDFC customer care at customercare@hdfcbank.com

  39. 39. VJNo Gravatar Says:

    Hi,
from your post i understand we can link only credit cards to paypal and not debitcards or atm cards, right?

so, if i have to pay to an online firm with paypal, i need to have an credit card?

can u tell me about this HDFC, international debit card?

I have a Federal Bank International debit card, which i tried and paypal said your bank has rejected your card!

  40. 40. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

It is better to purchase things with credit card rather than using paypal because there is a charge to deposit money into paypal with credit card. Be careful about purchasing things online. I don’t know whether HDFC Verified by Visa option is working or not. It used to work in the past. When you apply for international debit card, you will get access to Verified by Visa option where you can create virtual credit card, which you can in turn use to verify your PayPal.

Can I link my SBI ATM debit card (in place of required Credit Card)for opening a pay pal account with Pay Pal Bank for international transactions.Further I have to say that I have no passport or visa.

  42. 42. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

You need to have credit card. Paypal won’t accept debit card.

  43. 43. lassyNo Gravatar Says:

Hi Naveen thanx for all the interest you take to answer our questions. I’ve got a question– I recently applied a Pay Pal account, as soon as i got 10$ from a fren (jus to check if its working or not) they charged me 1.1$, next day i asked them to add 10more $’s and again i see 1$missing from the actual account. Will this continue again and again? Do they charge me 1$wenever i receive funds to my account?? How can i avoid this?

  44. 44. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Transfer of money between PayPal account will not cost you anything. They are free. They charge only if you receive money through Credit Card and they limit it to around 5 to 7 times in a year. Once you upgrade it to a business account, the fee will come down somewhat less.

  45. 45. lassyNo Gravatar Says:

Is that so. But u know the fact is i’ve received funds 4m other Paypal account only. tried 3times n noticed the same thing. so how can i claim the lost amount??

  46. 46. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Send mail to customer service and see what they tell you. But, I don’t think you will be charged for transfer from other paypal account. One thing I can tell you that if you are receiving funds from other Paypal account, then they are deposited into your account directly. If you are receiving from Credit Card, it will ask for confirmation whether you accept it or not and also shows how many more times you can accept credit card payments.

    Hi,
You have provided very very important information. Thank you so much. I have an account on shareapic.net website, they pays for sharing pics.
But the only method they use is paypal. Now I have bank account in SBI and ICICI & i have debit car for both account but those don’t get verified on paypal as we know. So will it make any problem in receiving money from shareapic.net as my credit/debit card details are not verified on paypal. Will simple fund transfer method you described will work without getting account verified?

    Thanks in advance.

  54. 54. Harsh VardhanNo Gravatar Says:

    Hi aslamdoctor,

You will have no problem in receiving payment from sharepic.net to your paypal account even if it is unverified.

Please note that if they use their own Paypal a/c to pay you, you will be alright but if they use their credit/ debit card to pay you on your Paypal a/c you will be charged a fee of approx. Rs. 250.

Yes, the simple fund transfer method from Paypal to Paypal works. And funds from Paypal can be transferred to your local bank account too without having to verify your a/c with a card.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Harsh

  55. 55. Harsh VardhanNo Gravatar Says:

Besides the above mentioned HDFC International Debit Card, SBI International Debit Card and SBI Yuva Card you can use your Kotak Mahindra Bank account to verify your Paypal a/c and lift limits too.

If you have a Kotak Mahindra Bank a/c with the netbanking facility activated , all you need to do is login and create a netc@rd. This is a virtual Visa card that can be used to make online purchases. Just ensure that the value that you assign to this netc@rd is sufficient to accomodate the $1.95 fee applied by Paypal. Paypal refunds this fee, once you confirm the expunse code (a sort of response/ identification no. for the txn.) to them and updates your a/c to a verified a/c.

Let me know if you have any clarifications.

    Or,

PayPal will always use my CREDIT CARD for payment for any of my PURCHASE ?

Will you Plz. Clearly explain all the possible way / procedure of “PAYMENT THROUGH PAYPAL”

    THANKS in Advance !!!

  57. 57. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

If you are solely opening Paypal account for purchasing something from Paypal is not wise. Paypal charges approx. 1.5% for transferring money from your credit card into Paypal account. It is good directly use credit card to purchase something. Paypal A/C is like virtual bank account with which we can transfer money into others’ Paypal account for transactions, which is easy and fast way of sending money. I work as a freelancer for people around the world, so it is easy to get the payment from them into my Paypal account, then transfer into my bank account and use. I think you are thinking that using Paypal will give additional protection or some other features which are not available through the credit card, but it is not. It is a form of payment method only.

hi naveen, i have a paypal account and last month i withdraw 500$ from it. this account is not verified. but when i try to withdraw money this month it says you have reached your withdrawl limit for this month. and from my knowledge its easily over one month before last transaction. can i withdraw a total of only 500$ with an unverified account or 500$ per month.

    please advice me.

  59. 59. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Paypal imposes withdrawal and transaction limits on personal accounts. Your account limits can be seen in the section “View Limits” after you logged into your account. But, I don’t understand why you are dealing with such a huge amount via Paypal, that too with unverified account. You are at risk of “account freeze” for which Paypal is well known for. You will eventually lose your money. Their support will be poor and chances are very less to get your money back. Read all bad things that can happen when you are dealing with Paypal @ http://www.paypalsucks.com/

Never do that much huge transactions with Paypal. Use Western Union Money Transfer for that.

    * Your customer will see your email ID while paying the Bill
    * If you have online banking facility, then you can see it immediately. As you are dependent on the manual bill, just wait for physical statement.
    * Withdrawing account also needs to have the same name you have in your paypal account.

You need to attach it to “Verified by Visa” at http://www.hdfcbank.com/common/onlineservices/netsafedemo.htm

After that, you will be able to create virtual credit cards with which you can verify your paypal account. Just create a virtual credit card with around Rs. 500 and use it to verify.

Hits4Pay also pays through check. So, use that method. Somewhere in the comments, you can see a post from SBI staff with link to how to verify Paypal with SBI debit card. Try that.

    Hi Naveen,

I have checked the paypal account with my netsafe card in hdfcbank. But what is the thing is i don’t know where to check the paypal confirm pin which have send by paypal Could u help me please in this.

  89. 89. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

You are almost done. When you log into the Netsafe, you can see a card like image where balance is shown. At the bottom of the card, you can see a link “All Accounts/Services” Click on it and it will show you account and balance. At the bottom of that window, you can see an orange tab “Txn. Details” Click on that and you can see all the card details. There you can see the pin of Paypal. Note it and enter it in Paypal to complete the verification.

  94. 94. HariNo Gravatar Says:

    @Naveen

There is a “No frills Account” in HDFC where we do not need to have any balance. i.e. zero balance. Any idea of this? Why a savings account when we got this? Please clarify!

    Thanks in advance!

  95. 95. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Banks have to offer “No Frills Account” (NFA) where minimum balance is zero. It is an RBI rule to make the banking services available to lower-income group. But, this account has lot of restrictions like limited number of transactions and limited amount of money flow. If the total amount of transactions reach more than 50k per year (I think…I am not sure about the limit), it will automatically made normal savings account. If you can afford a 5k QAB, go for it. Otherwise, take NFA account.

    Dear Naveen,
I tried to link my international debit card but it is not happening im getting a error like “That card number is already registered with PayPal. Please enter a different number.” My card is Corp Convenience International debit card. I want to withdraw 1602 USD please guide me how to do it. And how much will amount will paypal deduct?

  97. 97. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Debit Cards will not work except SBI as mentioned by Mr. Vivek from SBI. You can take HDFC international debit card and then using it you can get a virtual credit card creation facility called “Netsafe Verified by Visa.”

You can indeed verify Paypal using SBI Gold International Debit Cards (Visa / Mastercard) and SBI Yuva Cards (Visa)

  98. 98. dunzNo Gravatar Says:

Thanks Naveen for the very quick reply, One more query can i use my friends SBI debit card to link it?

  99. 99. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

No. It may become a problem and paypal can freeze your account. Don’t do that. Be careful. Read the horrible cases here: http://www.paypalsucks.com/

  101. 101. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

You might have not gone through the list of comments. At present only SBI debit cards and virtual credit card using HDFC international debit cards work to verify your Paypal account. Else, you need to get a credit card.

Could i withdraw money into my bank a/c or will they reject this transaction because of my last name coming first.

  113. 113. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

First withdraw a hundred or so and see what happens. If it works, you can start withdrawing the rest.

  114. 114. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

All major banks will work, but you can’t verify your Paypal account with debit card of Indian Bank. Get a credit card and verify.

Whats the minimum amount you can withdraw from paypal???
can I withdraw money without verifying account??

recently I Tried linking my moms standard chartered debit card affiliated to visa to my paypal account… but it never accepted.. do you know why???

  118. 118. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

There is no minimum it seems. If you want to withdraw a dollar, you need to withdraw at least two dollars because there is a charge of Rs.50 for amount less than 7k. I don’t know whether you can withdraw from unverified Paypal or not. Try yourself and let me know..of course test with a dollar. They can freeze any account with suspected activities regardless of verified and unverified.

  119. 119. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Debit card never works except selected SBI debit cards. Read all the comments and you will find comments related to SBI debit card.

  122. 122. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

There is mass pay facility for business accounts to send payments to multiple accounts at the same time. I think scheduling is not possible. If you have business account, you can explore what options they have provided. Go to Paypal and see what facilities are available with business account.

Can u tell me how to add money in paypal a/c from the verified credit card
    Please help me
    thankyou

  124. 124. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

I think you can’t deposit money from credit card into your Paypal. US a/c holders can deposit from their bank account into Paypal. Use request money feature in Paypal to send request to your email. Then follow the link in the mail and pay by your credit card. I am not sure if it allows to deposit money from your credit card. But, there is a huge fee to deposit money from credit card and there is a limit on credit card transactions per year, I think around 5 transactions allowed.

    Hi Naveen,
I wanted to purchase goods from US based firm. They requested me to send money via paypal. But paypal does not allow “send money” transaction even though I have added and verified an international credit card. It says “Sorry, your payment won’t go through. To make it work, you’ll need to add money to your account and pay with your PayPal balance”

    Any solution…,please help

  140. 140. NaveenNo Gravatar Says:

Yes…you need to get funds into your account. You can fill it with the card that is not on the file. Just use your friends. Send a request money mail to your friend and ask him to pay the amount. Paypal accepts only 5 of such requests per year if you have basic free account. You can pay paypal bill using your credit card. Ask the company to send a money request to your email and you can pay money into their paypal account using your credit card.

Recent issues with PayPal withdrawals to Indian Banks & more over payments just randomly being reversed back to the senders will have a deep impact on PayPal’s reputation. It raises so many questions like (THIS MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS):

    A) Should we trust PayPal in future?
    ANS: ABSOLUTELY NO

    B) Are they really concerned about our Money?
ANS: ABSOLUTELY NO, After a long period of two weeks we receive an apology letter stating that “We are sorry we goofed up opps!”? and stuff like “Your money just got sacked since this is nothing serious to us we are just doing a drill of playing a game with your hard earned money”?

    C) Is RBI responsible for this?
ANS: UNQUESTIONABLY MAYBE, So, Question is why this is happening in India and nowhere else? Question is why we are being kept behind curtains and dark? Question is why Moneybookers and other Payment systems are working but PayPal is not? you just want to exclude the RBI out of this since they are least concerned with us. Everyone failed here! RBI off course you cant expect them to give you a comforting truth so a comforting lie should suffice you! And PayPal Ow man no shit a multinational company failing to inform and notify of an issue of this magnitude. That was an AWESOME combination of pure frustrating, destroying trust & spreading chaos.

    D) So what does PayPal tell us now?
ANS: “We are sorry, but your valuable to us so please give us another opportunity to goof up and play some more engaging games with your money” and “We just love to make more profits by giving you a pathetic exchange rate”

    D) What now?
ANS: DTA (Don’t Trust Anyone) Get your sleeves up against them and find your own ways to get paid over any other medium that serves better, communicates better and keep them in plenty. If one fails other should work out.

Ive let all my clients know about this issue and advised them (in advance unlike PayPal) to switch over to some other Payment system which is reliable, responsible and does the main thing “ACTION” at PAR. The truth will probably be dead and berried RIP about what happened because the shame and disgust they bring upon themselves is apocalyptic now.
